I’m an Asheville, NC based potter. I began throwing in southwest Colorado, continued working with clay at a community studio in Philadelphia, and after arriving in Asheville in 2021, pottery production became my dedicated practice and livelihood. I was fortunate to work for other established potters as I honed my own skills.

I draw from a background of varied experience that includes scientific research, therapeutic care, a handful commercial kitchens, data collection for an addiction services division of county government, and documentary film. I like to think that lessons learned in those roles and experiences throughout my personal life have supported me in finding meaning and value in my pottery production work.

  • Most of the forms I make are done on the potter's wheel. I use calipers of different sizes to keep the forms consistent. The white stoneware clays are vitrified at over 2200° F in the kiln

  • Some products are slip cast in custom studio made molds. This process begins by creating wooden models. Then plaster molds are formed around the models and can later be used with clay slip

  • Glazes are designed in studio by experimenting with different combinations of glass formers, stabilizers, clay, and colorant oxides to create food safe, durable, and attractive surfaces
